How You Use Your Self Hypnosis Recordings
Here are some useful suggestions to help you get the most out of your self hypnosis recordings.
Where should I listen to my recordings?
Find a time and a place when you are not likely to be disturbed, and where distractions are likely to be minimized. Ideally, switch off or disconnect your mobile phone, landline, fax machine. You may find it useful to halt any kitchen appliances such as dishwashers or washing machines especially if they have any end of program alarms or beeps etc. You can listen to your self hypnosis recordings anywhere (except in the car etc) but the more peaceful and quiet the surroundings the better. Listen to them anywhere that is safe. Only listen to them in a place where your attention is not going to be otherwise required. Never, ever, listen whilst driving or operating machinery or doing anything that requires your full and undivided attention.
When should I listen to my recordings?
You can listen to them during the day, or at night just before bedtime, or as you go to sleep in bed. Some recordings have specific tracks for daytime and bedtime listening and they will be clearly labelled or indicated in our read up on the site. Details may also be included in a zip or rar file on data downloads where applicable. It's best to listen to them when you haven't just eaten a heavy meal. You need to be comfortable with as few distractions as possible. Go to the toilet before listening to your recording sounds simple but 1/2 hour into the recording and your peace may be disturbed by a call of nature. The recording could last over an hour in some cases.
What position should I be in, sitting down or laying down?
The recordings will work whatever your posture is (within reason! Standing up leaning against a wall definitely won't work!!!). If you are lying down as you listen it is more likely that you will fall asleep, especially if you are listening at bedtime. This is perfectly OK, they still work even as you sleep the subconscious mind still listens and it's that portion of the brain we need to influence.
If you are sitting down then ensure that your feet are placed firmly on the floor, that your hands are resting comfortably in your lap, and that your back is well supported. If you are lying down ensure you are comfortable if you are not lying perfectly flat. Ensure the temperature of the room is ok not too, not to hot / cold before starting the session
How often should I listen to my recordings?
We recommend that you listen to them every day for at least a fortnight; however there is research that says that doing something for 21 days repeatedly ensures that the change of behaviour takes place. Then, after that, listen as often as you wish. Do listen to them at least three times a week at a time other than bedtime.
How long are the recordings?
They vary from 25 minutes to about 45 minutes, in the main, however night time and some special recordings may be longer. Each product page on the site will indicate how long that particular recording is.
I am planning to buy several recordings, how should I listen to them?
If you purchase the relaxation selection, then you will be better equipped to absorb all the other recordings you have purchased. Having said that, there will be some relaxation element content, in most recordings, to take you down into hypnotic trance. But do remember the more you listen to a recording, the faster and more effective it will tend to work.
How quickly should I expect to see results?
Sometimes the results are fast and seemingly miraculous. Quite often, though, you will need to listen to them repeatedly to gain the benefits. Think of it as being like 'going to the gym or training' for your mind. These recordings train your mind by way of suggestion, metaphor in fact we have used one in this sentence to help you understand what happens, hypnotic commands, association and in a whole host of additional ways. As with going to the gym, this can take time you don't shed stones /Kgs in one visit! The best advice is to be patient with yourself and to listen regularly, frustration is not the attitude you need, go with the flow attitude to undertaking hypnosis is the best way. One of the reasons we offer a sixty day guarantee is that sometimes the positive effects are gradual plus the fact that the 21 days ideal listening length may not have been possible, you may have gone on a business trip / or holiday and forgot your recording, thus not enabling you to have the optimum listening length.
Should I use headphones?
It is entirely up to you. Most of our recordings contain stereo music and effects that can be enhanced by listening through a set of headphones, but if you haven't got a set that's ok too. Remember though! If you are listening at bedtime you may wake up with them wrapped around your face or neck. If you are sharing the bedroom, then the suggestions incorporated in the recordings etc., will also be beneficial to all who listen, provided they also genuinely want to change the same behaviour as you. If not they are harmless. Remember! All hypnosis is self hypnosis if you don't want to do (achieve) what's being suggested then you wont, the will has to be there for it to work.
How should I be listening to my recordings, what should I be thinking?
The important thing is NOT to, try to analyse what is being said, why is he saying that etc., trying to understand what is being said will distract you from the task of change, or why is he saying this, or to worry about whether you are following what is being said to the letter, or to think that you must 'do it completly right' to get the benefits. Some of the recordings are confusional on purpose to help occupy the part of your subconscious that has blocked you from changing in the past it's one of the recognised ways of succeeding where you, on your own, may have failed in your desired goal in the past. Just listen and let it wash over you!
I fell asleep whilst listening to one of your recordings. Is this OK?
It is perfectly OK to fall asleep whilst listening and reasonably likely if you listen at bedtime whilst lying in bed. You will still receive the full benefits. We do recommend that you also listen when it isn't bedtime, as we have said earlier.
